The backcountry beckons with adventure and freedom. Baker Mountain Guides’ Intro to Backcountry Skiing Course is designed to teach the fundamentals of backcountry travel. Our comprehensive, one-day curriculum will prepare you for day tours in simple terrain via an overview of backcountry equipment, movement skills, efficiency, and basic avalanche awareness.

Single Day
The day will begin with an overview of backcountry touring equipment. Instructors will discuss avalanche rescue/hazard and introduce topics such as skinning, track setting, kick turns, transitions, travel techniques, and group management. Students will take the lead and apply their new skills.
